Quick start guide
How to get up and running with adding and editing content.
Accessing the site
To log into the site put in the site URL followed by /admin. Then enter your user name and password.
The first screen you will see is the Dashboard (see screenshot on the right). This gives you access to everything you may want to edit on the site including posts, pages, plugins used for particular functionality, users, menus etc.
You can also switch the view so that you can see the site itself (see below) with a top bar menu to edit each page as you visit it.
Editing an existing page or post
To edit the content of an existing page or post select that page or post either via the dashboard menu or navigate to it on the site. Then click on 'BoldLight Builder' to launch the page builder and edit the content.
Each piece of content you can edit will be in a highlighted box when you hover over it. To edit the content you can click anywhere on the box and it will open up the edit screen. If this is text it will be a text edit, for images a screen where you can change the size or the image being displayed.
Adding new content
To add new pieces of content to a page click on the + symbol on the top right when you're in the Builder editing screen.
Most new content should be added using existing templates or saved rows. You can access these under the tabs on the drop down screen. Templates are saved pages or parts of pages and are added by clicking on the template, you will then choose whether to replace the content on the page or append the template. To add a saved row you drag this across from the menu and drop it onto the page.
To see more on how to use templates and which templates and saved rows are available go to the templates page on the wiki.
Add saved rows to your page or post
If you need to add entirely new content e.g. a row of text, two side by side images, and this has not been done elsewhere you can do this by adding a new row and content modules within this.
First create a new row, by selecting a row with the correct number of columns and dragging this across. The columns will stack on a mobile so consider if you want 2 columns so that images fall below text.
Once you've added the columns then drag on content modules e.g. header, text editor, photo. You may then want to change the settings for the column to select specific coloured backgrounds, text colours etc. This can be done using classes as described in the Styles & classes section.

Responsive content
Any content can be set so that it works differently depending on the device type that a user is viewing the website on. You can set this on a Row, a column or a piece of content (a text box, image etc).
To hide or show by device type select the edit icon (spanner) and then the Advanced tab. There you will see the option Responsive Layout. Here you can choose whether that row / content block is displayed always or only on certain devices.
Responsive setting to hide / show content depending on device type.
Creating a new page or post
As well as pages, the site has 3 different types of 'post':
- A blog post (called a 'post')
- A 'news item'
- A 'case study'
The different post-types can be shown in different areas of the site and can be filtered by categories. Each post-type has its own set of categories.
To create a new page or post go to the dashboard and under the menu for pages, or the post type you want to create, click on 'Add new'. This will take you to the Edit page screen where you can set the page name, the featured image (that will show as a header image & on any listings for posts) and the SEO content (Google content and sharing content).
Posts
Posts can be categorised and need to be so that they show up in any relevant feeds. Select from the categories on the right hand side or create a new category.
Pages
If pages belong to a specific section of the site you can assign a 'parent page' here.
Once you have completed the 'edit' screen you can click on BoldLight Builder to add the actual content to the page using saved templates or saved rows.
Launch the BoldLight Builder to add the content to the page or post.
